So you've got a 125? And you feel confident on it? Get insurance and just take the test off your own back. Go practice mod 1 in some carparks after studying what is required. Theres also a few youtube vids you could watch. Pay a tenner for mod 1. If you fail, you can take it 13.5 times before you start to loose out finacially.
I got insured on my mates 125. Practiced on my own. Passed both tests 1st time. £90 plus £20 insurance is all it cost me. I was 17 at the time with a years experience. Easy peasy. Plus I went into the test nerve free, with nothing to loose as I hadnt invested £600+ in lessons. Im sure most will disagree with me and tell me im a danger on the roads and I can't possibly ride a bike well. All because I didnt pay some cowboy half a grand to tell me something I already new... To be honest, I rode my bike to where I got it restricted, and just like the guy said when he was done, the only difference that should be seen/felt was top speed. So restricting isn't that big of a deal in my opinion!

Just do the test on the bigger bike if you can. Nothing more annoying than having a bike under you with most of the power missing. I'm guessing it would be easier done on a naked type bike if you can.
This gets banded around quite a lot on this forum, but I personally think it is a load of tosh. The acceleration, both from a standstill and rolling, is impacted quite a lot! Plus it strangles the rev range so you constantly have to short shift compared to full power - still possible to make good progress, but you have to work harder. |

I've heard of the police dynoing bikes admittedly that was L plated bikes but it does happen.
Oh and just FYI the curvy has two different options for restriction, washers or different carb slides. Druid

I found the SV much easier to ride than any 125 or 50 I've ridden in the past, especially at low speeds as it's much more stable.
As for which test, go for the DAS without a doubt. Sure, at 33bhp the SV does still pull from a standstill. There's a fair difference when going for overtakes at 50+ (no I'm not just being lazy ![]() ![]() ![]() |
