It's also possibly why military types find it difficult sometimes to get a job in the outside world once they get out!!
well heres why
acronyms are used in the forces for speed of information passing and unlike civi street arent changed every 2 seconds, here are some quick examples why

right lads we are off to do a cft followed by a bpfa you'll need your mark 6's ,180 load, lsw and hump, its co's sports all ends well poets day

translation

right lads we are off to do a combat fitness test followed by a basic personal fitness test, you'll need your mark 6 tactical assult helmet a burgan with 180 pound load, a light support weapon, and a camel back water despencer, its the commanding officers sports day all ends well p1ss off early tomorrow is saturday

or even simplier

the life expectancey (yep really) and therefore max time a radioman is allowed on the net (air) at any one time is 22 seconds after that the enemy can triangulate your position and bomb the sh1te outta ya

some times expediance is a vurtue

well, conveniently SOCA have a big veil of secrecy to hide their operations behind... Whether it's operation tetleys or operation hobnob we'll never really get to find out I don't think...

Merseyside police were basically playing with themselves at the last one... parked a load of cars outside the LCC with big stickers saying "NO INSURANCE, VEHICLE SEIZED" and had a traffic car sat with its engine running and traffic officer inside it for the whole 2 day event...

Must admit, I did knock on his window and tell him "ere mate, you wanna get those vehicles shifted - they've got no tax either" sure I heard him call me a ***** as I walked away lol
