Good morning all.
As it was a CAT D early in it's life, any problems arising from the accident should be well sorted by now. However, unless fitted with engine bars when involved in accidents Bandits have a habit of cracking the oil gallery on the lower crankcase. This is the hex headed plug below the front covers on either side of the engine. Years ago I had a customer who's virtually new Bandit 1200 was written off, due to the above. There was minor cosmetic damage, but the cost of new crankcases meant the bike became a CAT D. My customer declined to purchase the salvage, & left it to the insurance company concerned to dispose of it. Some months later I was called out to a breakdown, an oil leak on a Bandit 12. It was the same bike, with it's new owner on his 'bargain' lightly scuffed bike. Some unscrupulous W***KER had repaired the broken cases with plastic metal, & sold the bike on. Cheers. |
