yeah thats right forgot about that. so i would need to sort insurance before i got there then or what if he signed it over and dated it the day after i rode it back. guess i could look in to having it transported down here.

Or you dont fill the forms in until you get the bike home/get him to post the V5 down to you.
but I cant condone that cos plod might take the bike off you if you get pulled for any even minor offence.

Like no insurance if current owner does not have a policy on it. It will flag up on ANPR if not (ANPR work on bikes?)

It's still a risk, you're not going to test ride a bike 270 miles are you. Unless he's prepared to say "he's a mate and needs a bike so I lending it him for a few weeks". Obviously pay cash. But in the event of an incident turning over a V5 with the "mate who's borrowing it" name signed over would look dodgy!

You might be able to borrow it for a week while the cheque clears. But that requires a certain degree of trust on both sides.
