But what else can you do. We're an oil based economy, the problem here isnt the price of crude, its the fact that alot s of the price you pay at the pump goes to the government in tax and every budget they put the fuel duty up again. IIRC its going up another 3p per litre shortly.

Not buying petrol only works for so long. To blame the oil companies completely for the price of petrol is also IMHO a little short sited...

this is true...

1.21 per L in the trumpet today. gutted!!! the amount they are spending on getting the oil out the the ground is phenominal (trust me) the only thing you could do is tackle our gov. the oil industry while making massive profits, is a secodary souce of the troubble.

Why? What are any of the other parties going to do about it? What is the Tory policy on crude oil prices. What will LibDem do about the oil cartels? Do labour have any plans for oil tax?

It's just too easy to blame the current government. Now, I don't think they're any better than any of the other potential scounging wind bags, but, oil prices are bigger than a single country's governments problem.

Oil owners rule the world

I suspect

1. Not a lot.
2. Blame the previous Government for the mess they've been left with.

Thats normally what happens.

The price of crude is quoted in dollars and it has indeed fallen recently and the government takes a lot of tax from fuel(but so will the next government whoever they are)but we buy our imported oil(because we squandered our North Sea bonanza like spoiled children)and pay for it in pounds. The pound has plumetted in value over the last year and that is why oil is very expensive to us.

That's all very well but i always top-up with the higher ron, more expensive stuff. Many of the cheaper places (supermarket garages and many others) just don't stock the stuff.

That is so true and only @30% of the population will go out and vote in about a months time.

The political establishment would cr@p itself if there was a 100% turnout

Get out there and show them they need you more than you need them

Might be worth selling my shares in BP now and rebuying in a few weeks if people stop moaning and actually take action, something I envy France for amusingly.

Has nobody thought that all the oil companies could hike the price up several days before, then drop it really low on the day to encourage people to purchase....
