well its all well and good doing the sidestand pivot, but over the years your stand will get further and further in lean angle. They are weak at the best of times.
I use to grab rail a lot as I have to squeeze three bikes side by side in a small shed....it ain't broke yet!

best thing if you dont have much room to move ya bike around is to use a trolly.. easy to make 2inch think marine ply and caster at each corner and 3 more in the middle push bike on. side stand down. spin. push bike off.. can even store the bike on it

would also not use grab Rail alot as they are only mounted with 2 small stud bolts, if u cant be bothered to take 20 mins to make a trolly then i would get hold of the tails subframe from under it and walk it around but then you could put ya back out.. me i would make a trolly only cost ya £20 if that..

Better breaking a stand rather than back injury.

All stands are different, the one on my honda stood up fine over 3 years. Mate has a zr7, that stand is to weak.

SV one seems solid enough so far.

As for grab rails, they are pretty tough, if it breaks from lifting one end of the bike up they are not fit to be held onto under acceloration/ braking.

^His idea sounds good, no idea what is is mind lol.

better to do none :P , assumption is the mother of all F%^$ ups :P

side stands are only there to stop ya bike from falling over.. not for taking the hole weight of the bike....

I do the grab rail jobby to stop me risking another back injury, can't do the sidestand shuffle!May sound odd, but it works better for me.

I know this is not a new thread, but Preston can you repost the pic of your home made trolley?

I want to do something like this, would like a pic to copy.

Many thanks!

Works fine on SV. Frame mount is plenty strong enough as is the stand.
Bear in mind I spin my bike around 180 degrees with that method 2 or 3 times a day for 3 years.

Making trolley seems like a pain in the ****, if you've got room for a big sheet of plywood taking up whole garage you've got room to do a 3 point turn.
