Using this method, how would one go about fitting the original can again should it be needed for an MOT?

You need a sleeve to go over both ends and some jubilee clips to hold it together.

i thounght fitting an exhaust would be easy. then i stumbled upon this while trying to find which exhaust would look and sound the best...

just missed out on getting a 2nd hand m4 from e bay. i really llike them but dont wana spend all that money so trying 2nd hand.
oh, and i think someone with ur magical knowladge put up a difinative thread on "how to exhaust swap" for us poor knowladged pesants. id read it... if it had pictures
