Can I suggest that you report this to the police! Won't get you anywhere, but if the person that has hit your car suddenly has a change of heart and reports it! You can then get done for not reporting it! (As my brother in law nearly did)
Sorry to hear about your car |

Update: Called police and got crime reference number. Except because I dialled 101 from Cardiff instead of Caerphilly I got the wrong police, and had to have my stuff faxed to the correct force who then called back to confirm and told me I had to produce my documents at the local police station.
Went to police station with all my stuff and to my surprise actually sat down with a cop who filled in all the proper forms for an RTC. He also suggested I consider trying to do it all myself instead of claiming, but seriously, knackered bodywork is not fixed cheaply. We drew a little sketch of the location and that was it. Insurers have been swift - unless someone is caught, this more or less goes down as my fault (you know, for daring to own a car) but in any event a tow truck is coming tomorrow to haul the poor thing away and have it all fixed. I should also be getting some ghastly econo-sized ****box as a courtesy car, to not do burnouts and handbrake turns in. Still various types of upset at the moment, I hope whatever damage the perpetrator's car suffered causes them severe inconvenience. Last edited by Warthog; 27-04-10 at 03:07 PM. Reason: swearing |

Atleast the police did something, i tried to sort it.
Its just a shame that the things goes down as your fault, cause it wasnt. I hope you get its sorted quick and proper, and not to expensively. What car is it? If you dont mind me asking? Hopefully the person who hit you has some serious damage also! |

I parked my car, came back to find a broken bit that was part of my car. Some idiot hit it and it got towed.
I went to look at it at a car pound I was like well thats FUBAR ![]() Unless you have an index of the other car, it won't go anywhere no way to trace it. It's a pita, but having been there before its not great. I had repair my first car as a teenager $500 is a lot of money at 18. |

Dude, you can't blame the populus of Caerphilly, they are not born with enough brain cells to know wrong from right...
Anyway, look for the car with the huge dent in it, that'll be the one that got you. No CCTV cameras around your area "keeping you safe"? |

@ChrisSV: Toyota Celica... it was absolutely pristine before this happened, grrrrrr! I said to the cop that I suppose insurers treat this sort of thing as your fault because otherwise you'd have loads of people crashing, having the car towed home and then claiming they came out and found it like that. Sucks but there you go.
@Tony: No cars with big dents yet, though I am looking. The nearest CCTV camera is on the side of a garage door company in the lanes behind my house. This is the same CCTV camera that despite being pointed at my garage (when it was kicked in last summer) was again worthless. "My god, they're wearing FABRIC over their faces! Our cameras are WORTHLESS!" |

Thanks Chris. Pragmatic part of me realizes that some of the stone chips will be dealt with in the process.
