Just ride the bugger and enjoy - when it gets low, fill it back up again and enjoy some more!

Been lurking a while now, this board seems like a perfect place for me to settle into if I do indeed get a SV650.

In the process of DAS, have little bike experience behind me as a teen.

Regardless, the SV will be my "first big bike". Was considering a Bandit like most do, except I'm a shorty and I heard/read the SV is also a good starter bike and much lighter I'm 5'4 weighing in a 8 stone

So...on with the questions...

1. Pointy/Curvy - explain please <.< Obviously to do with looks but some I look at dont look particularly pointy or curvy, lol.

I like the look of the naked more at this point, but I dont think the faired version is that bad either. I'll be doing some motorway riding probably, but not huge distances (prob 50 miles at a time tops).

2. MPG/Tank size - From what I read 100-150 is the average range of the bike, which seems like nothing. I get 400 miles per tank from my car now and I feel like I'm forever stopping to fill up. Is this the norm for this class of bike?

3. I've set myself a strict £1500-£1800 budget. What can I realistcally expect for this price? I want as new and as stock as possible.

I think they were my main concerns, thanks all
hey welocme to the org

you will find that a curvy has a frame that looks like round pipe & a Pointy has more of a pointy flat fram also curvys go up to 2002 and pointys are 2003 +

£1500-£1800 budget i think you will be able to get something stock i got mine for around £1500 mot & tax mint with few mods and 18,000 on the clock its a 2002 curvy

It does look very nice!

I wont be buying til closer to my license date though, becuase otherwise I couldnt even get it back home. Once I book/start my DAS course I'll be looking to actively purchase.

If she still has it then...!

if u think 150 or so is bad....dont look at 90% of other bikes, ive had plenty do 80-90 to tank!!!!!...as for my sv it averages 150-170 to light, thats well over 50mpg....after 26 yrs of riding and over 50 bikes( plenty of BIG sportsbikes) i cant fault the sv, cracking bike
