The most risky idiots of riders ignore the current law anyway.
It's only this forum gives a toss about it too, advice I was given everywhere else before I passed my test was "ignore it, nobody checks". And nobody did.

I passed my test in 1996, although I've always had a 'full' license it wouldn't have made any difference to me as I only had <33 hp for the first two years anyway.
Still disagree with it, 33hp is plenty enough to kill yourself and nothing to do with being safer, its just a figure plucked from the air, as arbitrary a figure as the 12 (or 15)hp that 125's get saddled with. Druid

Passed on a 125 aged 24, for financial reasons.
I can see how its beneficial, you cant really race a 33bhp. Since i have had a larger bikr i have notice a fair few drivers like to challenge me. A had a lotus elise sitting next to me in the fast lane of a dual carriage way, moving back and forth trying to make me play. Knowing i can not get anywhere fast after 70mph theres no point in me trying to race it. If it was unrestricted i still wouldnt have done anything, but i can see how it would be tempting for others. |

Currently 18, passed Restricted test when i was 17 years and one day old, its up in September.
Don't agree with it being targeted at young riders opposed to all riders, but I can't change anything, so just have to lump it for 2 years. I haven't really lost out being restricted, yeah it would be nice to have the choice, but bah. |

Even though speed is an issue and may contribute in an RTC, I don't think for one second its the actual casue of every incident. There are a lot factors I have seen my fair share from fender benders to fatal accidents. Also being on 33bhp still allows a person to reach 100+
Money would be better spent on having actual police on patrol to weed out the idiots and to deal with criminal acticty. Though its not going to happen casue the government spent money on PCSOs and saftey cameras ![]() |

I don't mind the restriction being law as tbh, if I could ride any powered bike I'd still probably get an SV, restrict it to 33hp for a softer bike and then de-restrict when I felt ready.

The SV is not like a 1000cc sportsbike, it won't bite your head off.

I don't agree with it.
I had to do 2 years restricted, luckily, I had a full power bike that was well below 33bhp. (KLX250). So it didn't feel flat or particularly under-powered. (as it revved to it's redline etc) As has been said, you can get hurt or killed at 30. It's experience that counts, reading the road and minds of the others using the road. I think 50cc bikes, modern restricted ones are dangerous. Mainly because if you're restricted to 30mph, you can still ride in a national speed limit signed road but become an obsticle to other road users. If you're going to be aloud on the road, the vehicle you use should be able to at least meet the speed limits of the road. |

Do you honestly expect anyone to believe that? You'll be telling us that there is a god and Jesus really turned water into a nice Chianti next. |
