Rule 178
You can stop at the second line and be waiting in the cycle box legally, but only if the lights go red after you have crossed the first line.Id say that was a possible loophole that they wouldnt bother trying to prove if you contested a ticket?

The other is if you are in the advisory cycle lane on the left then the first stop line doesn't cross that - I think that's how legally the cyclists get into the cycle box - maybe that would work for us too ![]() The City of London Police have always enforced this rule. Are you sure it's now extending to the Met Police ? or was it in the City? |

What about if you move to the right of the cycle box and wait just a tad on the "wrong" side of the road?I know you have technically jumped the lights, but Ive never heard of anyone being done for jumping lights if they dont actually move out into the junction.

Remember its the highway code, not law. Road traffic act is the law. Both contradict each other on several occasions!!
