Good luck, Ms Flakes. I know nothing about sales and marketing, but I've got quite a bit of experience of job interviews, from the interviewing side of the table. Be positive, friendly, enthusiastic and honest. If you don't know something, don't BS but express an interest in learning. If you're asked a question about your worst feature, then try to spin it into something positive.
Treat every interview as an opportunity to improve your interviewing skills. Last edited by wyrdness; 25-05-10 at 07:47 PM. |

Good luck!
I always seem to get offered the job when I go in thinking "not sure I really want this job". Strange but true! I think it relaxes me a bit more than normal, no pressure... Anyhoo, agree 100% with everything wyrdness said. One other thing though, are you sure taking the bike is the best idea? I always dig out the good suit, and try to look my best for an interview. Knowing you look the part gives the old self confidence a boost as well, and I know I never look my best coming of the bike! Last edited by Philbo; 25-05-10 at 08:36 PM. |

Good luck Jayne!!
I'm with Philbo... ditch the bike (for the day only...) and look the part. "So, what weaknesses do you have?" "I'm really impatient. I like everything done yesterday!" |

As is my way with these things, I like to know a bit about the company I am going to see. Should it worry me that I have found a whole load of complaints about them on line?
I think I may have found a reason for high staff turn over. Carol and I are both worried now. Oh well, if it is pooh, nothing lost and if it is good, I am in luck. We will just have to see. |

As you know i`ve been trying to get one of these job things for a while, but i`m still no expert on interviews.
Apart from the usual : get a good night sleep, try and relax ( i`m always a bag of sweaty nerves ![]() ![]() I normally assume I haven`t got a job as its less disappointing when its true, waited 3 weeks to be told they`d given a job to someone else after I was told I was the favourite for it, b&%$rds. Though I had an interview on Thursday which I should find out about soon, and i`m confident about, can`t wait to find out. Good luck tho ![]() ![]() Last edited by Miss_Undaztood; 25-05-10 at 09:50 PM. |

Anyway, I had a brilliant day today. ![]() Got up nice and early and got ready for the interview and pulled the bike out of the garage. The ride to Bristol was amazing at that time of the day despite a lot of traffic. I got a little bit lost and missed my turn off on the M5, but just whizzed up to the next one to turn around. ![]() Filtering through Bristol traffic was a combination of terror and ecstasy and it was the first time for me in a rush hour of that intensity. I parked up in the middle of Bristol and and locked my little girl up (my bike, not a female child because that would be weird!) in the bike park. ![]() I arrived at the interview place politely early and was given a form to fill in and shown to a leather couch. The room was full of other applicants and this is when things got strange. Despite being on time, I was made to wait nearly an hour for my interview. The Office team seemed to be very well dressed foreign staff, however when one of their current employees turned up they seemed rather disinterested. He was asking for his photo ID, but they told him that he was fine and did not need it... I was finally called in for an interview that lasted just under two minutes. She apologised for wasting my time and wished me a good ride home. Turns out it was not for a job, they are a door to door sales company and they are looking for people to do the walking/selling part. To do so, one must be a self employed independent contractor and pay is commission only. For every customer signed up, the contractor is paid fifteen pounds. So how many of you on here would like to have your door bell ring and when you answer you are then be asked by a complete stranger about your personal financial situation? To me it sounded immoral and quite wrong. I do not like Cold Calling on the telephone, let alone at the front door. The job advert I replied to was for a Media Sales Job, it said nothing about door to door sales. Oh and just for fun, the office running this sales company was also the head office for a Krishna cell. In a half glass half full kind of way, I met some really interesting people today! ![]() The ride home was cool, I popped into see my good friend Wayne and we sat in his garden for a couple of hours just chilling out while he worked on fitting some Titanium bolts to his race bike. ![]() Oh well, no job. But the experience was brilliant and for reasons I can't quite explain, I feel like I had a confidence boost. ![]() |
