Better than a cigar, for the reason that a cigar you throw away a good bit of un-smoked tobacco. Galling if you have expensive taste. Yes you will look like a doofus, but so what? I know someone who took up a pipe aged 20 (but is the sort of dude who can carry off looking stupid with aplomb). The faffing around filling a pipe (or rolling a perfect rollie) is all part of the fun.

Just don't forget you will STINK after smoking. Really.

Myself and a past office share colleague used to have pipes at work. Didn't smoke them, but found they focused the mind and were good for pointing at things (old chap).

Nice for the ladies too

Don't bother. Apart from looking like Harry Enfield's "Victorian Dad", if you like it you'll want more...... you'll be a smoker before you know it.

Keep your health. Trust me on this.

Conviscated any lately .
Anywho, tried to stay out of here because I didn't want to come across as a hypocrit and killjoy, but feel I need to pipe up (see what I did there) and get something off my chest.
Now, I have been smoking for about twenty years, as if it was going to be banned tomorrow, but, if your not addicted and have no need to smoke, then ffs don't.
I am, in fact, sitting here with a roll up hanging out the corner of my mouth as I type, but on tuesday I visited the dentist for a check up, only to be told that I will be recieving a letter of referral to go and have a biopsy on my gum. Needless to say I am slightly worried.

By all means, smoke if you want to, I am sure we all know the risks, just don't take it for granted that it won't be you.

nah-according to the smokers there's a dry up so they say that its getting harder to get there weed.

Seriously if you don't smoke don't start -i gave up when i joined the old bill but sometimes the smell is so sweet i'd be tempted to start again but the health implications bring me to my senses-but end of the day each to their own.

Honestly smokers get addicted in the first place because they believe that they can quit any time they like, until one day they cant.

I quit about 2 years ago after spending 13+ years of smoking, if you dont have to dont start it is one of the hardest habits to quit and really isnt worth what ever pleasure you think your going to get from something that smells nice.

All the sterotypes come to mind, like the flat cap and beard. My uncle is the only person I know who smoked a pipe, and he did inded have a beard, a cap of sorts, and buddy holly glasses to go with it lol. In a bizare way he did look quite distinguished. That never tempted me though, so I'd say give it a miss!
