Can you ask someone who's riding solo to carry the extra sleeping bag/mat for you?
only just seen your post dyzio - it wasn't there before for some reason?

well for the GM she's going to be taking my car as we're staying in scotland for about a week after the GM. All the gear can go in the car but we're planning a fair few other trips where it'll just be us 2 on my bike with no support car or other bikes with space to carry some of our gear..

Now that I've actually bothered to test the panniers and see that she'll be able to get her feet on the footpegs, I'm quite confident we'll be able to manage on long weekend trips. She's doing her cbt soon so hopefully she'll be able to get on and do her DAS in the not too distant future

Paul, dare i say it*cough* topbox *cough*.

My and my Mrs have just purchased some camping gear and plan to do a few weekends before the AR.
Ive got the 2 hard panniers that came with my sprint which dont hold loads and a 46L topbox to fit, then were gonna bungee tent, sleeping bags, blow up mattress to the boxes, the clothes etc in the boxes.

Keep us informed how you get on

Phil

I did a cheapo topbox thing on a spare sv1000 seat last year for AR - leedsmatt has got it now

Now that I know the panniers will fit without blocking the pillion footpegs I'm sure we'll be fine. The rentec rack & about 500 ratchet straps means we can strap a fair amount on, safe in the knowledge it's not going anywhere I'll prolly post pics & a mini report of how we get on with the practice runs...

That reminds me, I need a new subframe. The rack snapped mine!

Take less stuff. I bet you dont need or use at least 50% of what you have packed.

Soon realised that a mallet for the tentpegs was a waste of time - pushed them in by standing on them and removed them with a spare tentpeg to act as a hook..

Never really seem to take pointless stuff, it's just things like waterproofs & extra layers - either need them when you haven't got them or don't when you have like I say, pics of adventures to follow
