Nah, they're buzzing about everywhere near water at this time of year, have you never seen one? They can give a bit of a nip though if you get hold of one!

It wasn't flying it was crawling very quickly on the ground trying to find shelter. It won't have had long left, can't do much without a wing sadly.

Never seen one anywhere near as big as that. Looks like something off honey I shrunk the kids

Maria your pics are fantastic, i love the old houses and what a beautiful place to stay. It`s the bird pics that got me tho... it`s one thing looking at a picture in a bird book but your pics make each bird look so interesting. They really made me want to look at every bit of detail on each bird.. the woodpecker is fantastic!

Oh and Langley Farm cottage cheese is the best cottage cheese ever

Pity I didn't know you were going to have some barn owls, as I would have bought my girls over to see them. The woodpecker is nice too.

Its a lovely part of the county, even though its close to Essex

But it would have been too hot to drive over at the weekend

Its back to normal now, and we had heavy rain yesterday, thank goodness

my mum and dad had the haywain on the dining room wall.. so, interesting to see that -

my brother passed me the tomato sauce when we were kids and had left the top loose on purpose- i shook it up and whooshh all tomato sauce went all over the haywain.. dad went barmy .. my cool brother said dad its a reproduction it isnt the original so calm down ..it is worthless .. ha.. he is a solicitor now.

Cheers! Loved every minute of my stay. Purposefully got up at 5am twice in a row (2 hours before we needed to) so I could go for walks about the place. Shame I didn't have more time but will definitely have to go back!

Lol aye they need to be stuck, it calms them down anyway with it being dark and small. Bless em, some of the species like Wren and Woodpecker were a dab foot at getting out of the pots as they are used to getting in and out of small holes (ooo err )
