yea well ive got leathers, and my regatta oversuit however on a long run (not that i do them) it may be better to have textiles ive been thinking?

anyhoo already got a jacket so just need the trousers im just a) peved that theyve lost them b) fecked me about for over a month c) i now have to pay more to get some

all in all not a good experience. Compare that to frank thomas who did nothing but exceed my demanding expectations.

All brands have their 'friday afternoon' batches. Horses for courses. Two of us never had a problem one of us has. You could buy anything and still have problems. I'd still go for the monsoons, if thats all your budget can go. I've not just got Richa pants I've got an assortment of gloves too, that have also never let me down.

viney said they leaked didn't he?

Dunno Andy, on longer trips I'd rather have the protection of leather tbh.
Textiles may be slightly more convenient for winter commuting but don't know as I've never commuted in a rainsuit I'm afraid.

I have always liked a textile jacket and leaterh trousers. that way you only ever have to carry waterproof trousers and with a carrier bag over your foot they are quickly put on!.

I currently have a pair of Buffalo Textiles. Comfotable as they are big, they dont leak but the quality is a bit off!. Next pair i get will be the matching trousers to the jacket i bought a few months ago but at £230 from HG, they will have to wait.

Had 2 pairs of buffalos leak on me. HG are really highly rated - expensive though.

He did, but then mine never have, and after four years look like new, even though I only ever use them. All year round, rain or shine. I don't have any leather pants, and have Draggins for extremely hot weather.

Then again we don't know what Viney uses them in, and no disrespect to him, but you do have to rewaterproof textiles once in a while.

For example my Halvarrsons jacket leaks at the wrists, dry as a bone everywhere else, only just got round to putting it in the wash for proper waterproofing, as I spray it with TX direct after a few hundred miles in the rain, yet YC has different experiences with his, and because he commuted for so long had to wash it a lot to keep it waterproof....and those are 200 quid jackets.

Horses for course, as I say.

In that case goretex is the way forward I reckon.

I commuted for couple of years (and crashed) in a £50 lewis jacket. Still use it and it's never leaked , coming up to 4 years now (barely used it this year though) Never washed it or anything.

Think my Weise textiles cost me £400 for jacket and trousers. Both were a RiDE best buy last time they did a review though, and they've been really good in awful weather.

**** , more expensive than I thought.
I know dealers make a healthy mark up on weise kit (or they used to) so room for in store negotiations

I'm only saying I think - it was so long ago that I can't remember. At the time, it was mid-range on the budget.
