I shall be wiping my phone to get rid of the Orange bloatware and game demos and re-installing a HTC software set...just as soon as I get a chance!

I have an N97. At first I used all the fancy carp on it, but now just use it for calls and texts, with thew occasional ebay bid thrown in. I mainly use it for listening to music when in the lab. I don't care what software it runs so lng as the fecker doesnt crash!

So what's the verdict?

I'm posting this on a Dell streak demo unit. Pretty nice, but I wish I could install froyo. The sooner manufacturers just make only the hardware the better. I don't need a **** dell overlay if it means waiting months for updates!

watchout for the orange locked desire handsets if puting custom rom on as i think you need the unlock code. have a read before doing it

I think its pretty good, just the ability to install programs on the SD card is good. There seem to be lots of little bits and pieces dotted around the OS that have been improved that make the feel of the device quite a bit better. Its seems faster. Flash support is significantly improved. The wifi 'tethering' is nice. Supposedly you can now stream music to the phone across wifi from a remote source, I'm guessing it uses UPnP but I haven't had a look at that feature yet.

Was under the impression it's completely reset after rom upgrade, and therefore, no code will be needed. I will of course thoroughly research this before I take the plunge.

Cheers.

Desires on orange should have updated last week. O2 will have to wait .... 7 weeks! (as told by an orange-froyo-desire-wielding carphone warehouse employee, so I can't vouch for its accuracy)
