A lot of ex police I know work for financial institutions dealing with internal and external crime and fraud. They were top rank police though.
Its the job my girlfriend does and to be fair it does pay very well, it's just very hard getting your foot in the door. The jobs are rarely advertised externally. May be worth getting your CV off to a few local banks anyway.

The Head of Security where I work (Lord's Cricket Ground) is an ex-policeman. It's a desk job, and with all the major sports grounds being on alert for possible terrorist attacks these days I expect there are plenty of other sports organisations that have to employ people in a similar role. Most days he's simply overseeing the gate staff but when we have VIPs and the Queen in that keeps him busy.
