Well 300 squid tpft for a 1 litre micra 5 years old is a bit much. Considering my bike is 90 quid a year!

My Vectra was £500 to insure in June, changing car this week so the delightful £25 admin fee will be charged when I change the policy, tho the new car should be cheaper to insure so it might balance out.
Going to phone them now to find out. Wish me luck. |

Dreading having to buy car insurance. I have had a company car for the past 25 years and look to be loosing it. Daughter was a named driver on my policy till 20 months ago, so I guess I should be able to claim my full NCD from that, (Assuming 2 year rule still applies). All the same I can understand why people are prepared to risk driving without insurance. Alsthough I have no pity if they are caught. for which a mandatory £2,000 and 12 month ban should apply.

I read a report on it a few months ago when I noticed that my insurance premium went up by £120 dispute turning 25 and having 6 years no claims.
The conclusion was that as interest rates were so low the insurance companies can't make enough money from the bank that they had to increase the premiums to make up for it. Also paying in installments now attracts high interest rates 20% ish so you pay a lot more unless you pay in full.

Mine is due on the 1st October, just done some quotes this morning so I have a rough idea what to except, and looking at around £600 mark.
Going to wait till my renewal paperwork comes in and then play them off against each other to get it down a bit! This is for me and drew to drive a C4 vtr+ coupe, 6000 miles a year, 6 years no claims. I'm actually looking forward to turning 25 next year as for the past 2 years I have been slapped with a younger driver excess on my policy if I do have an accident! |
