At 10 stone I doubt if you need to change the standard springs,but I bet you do need fresh oil which will improve the front no end.

I think changing them will help. Stock are like .6 or soemthing stupidly weak.

stock is .7 I think. Racetech calculater reckons I need to go for .85 and I weigh 14 stone.

This didn't sound right as I recently used this and got 0.95 for my 15.5 stone (yes, lard ass I know). Just checked it again and noticed that the calculator shows the pointy SV650S as being 38 pounds (17.2kg) heavier then the curvy SV650S, so it recommends a 0.05 heavier spring for the pointy. Is the pointy really that much heavier?

I fitted 0.95 along with the emulators and with the standard spacers and preload adjusted right out the bike and rider sag is pretty much spot on (11mm and 31mm), so they can't be too far out.

I think this man has it right! If your not bottoming out your forks (using up their complete travel) then a change of oil (I weigh 11.5st and went for 15w oil) will be a great improvement unless your on a track.

I have k-tech linear 0.85 springs in my curvey and they suit me well (about 12st dressed). I use Silkolene PRO RSF 7.5W oil, which is actually about the same viscosity as most 10W oils and seems to damp well under normal road use. I don't think they would be too stiff for you, though 0.80 would be OK too, the stock curvey springs are quoted as 0.709 IIRC.

I always have a problem when people talk about fitting "progressive" springs, well yes they may well be progressive but what spring rate are they at a typical working length? At least with linear springs you know what rate they are.
