First thing, remove riders seat. check the wiring loom as it runs down the subframe past the seat fasteners, the bolts tend to foul it and cause it to wear the insulation and short.
Ignore comment above re TPS. It does not apply to your bike. Don't bother with internet voodoo about magic devices to give more power. No such device exists. At the age of the bike, the fork oil needs to be changed so use it as an opportunity to put in more suitable springs.

Petrol, buy petrol and ride it.

As Timwilky says about the wiring harness, also check under the pillion seat inside the cubby box on the left side towards the rear the wiring wraps round a frame bracket, it can chafe there.
Also since it's a curvey (you lucky person you!), make sure the choke plungers are free and returning properly, and get some lube into the choke cable especially at the splitter. You can do the rear choke plunger with the carbs in-situ but you really need to lift them off to do the front one (it's not a big job). Scottoiler Front fork springs and oil (if they are standard at present) Check steering head bearings, grease if possible and adjust if necessary. Take as many electrical connectors apart as you can get to and clean/lube them, get some dielectric grease (Maplins or Dow Corning DC1 off ebay) for this and you can also apply it to the front plug cap. take all the fuses out and do the same, remembering the main fuse under the green cover behind the right side black triangle. Decent headlight lamp, Osram Nightbreaker or Philips X-treme Power off ebay are recommended. Make sure the brake pad pins in the calipers are free and grease them. ......other things.....

Just ride the thing and change things as and when you think you need to.
