I dont think they are, OK im a dealer and have worked as an independant also for many years. All the local car main dealers around here charge minium of double per hour of what we charge and most modern cars dont require as much "skill" when it comes to servicing as most are just plug and play diagnostics, oil/filter changes.

A good friend of mine runs a service dept in a main Toyota garage and has now gone over to Renault, they were near on an extra £100 more for an equivilant 4k type service on the top of the range cars. The lower end cars were a fixed labour £90 charge but the tech only spent max 45mins on the car.

In reality though cars = bikes cant really be compared and it does vary vastly what car too..Micra-BMW M5 totally worlds apart.
