If your going to be doing this often, download and install Hamachi on both PCs.
then use untraVNC.

You can setup both via logmein then you have a constant access to their PC you can even include creating a share file.

Logmein free edition, because theres no ports to forward or firewall rules to set manually, just install and its done, its the simplest solution and its always on.

The computer can be accessed from any pc with a browser, you can even use android and the iphone to login.

Its so easy to setup the novice can install it and have it up and running for you to login, i always use it, its perfect.
