I'd always recommend double checking the alignment after everything has been put back together, and then checking it again just to be sure. Then once you're happy it's right, turn the engine over slowly by hand to make sure there's no contact anywhere.

I like to cable tie the sprockets on because I'm dyscalculaic and easily lose count when finding the sixteenth pin. Having removeable sprockets makes this a damn sight easier

Less to get wrong if the sprockets have any adjustment and aren't dowelled in place.

99.9% of road bike cam spockets are not slotted and totally unadjustable. Most will only fit on the cam the one way too. The potential for getting it wrong is minimal, but there's no accounting for the numptiness of the inexperienced mechanic.
