If you want to get into Radiology, go for it. I am presently working on projects for Radiotherapy, Oncology, Chemotherapy, Burns & Plastics and Breast (Cancer). I have a meeting in 2 weeks to look at doing some work for Radiology.

This is the inside of a new Tomotherapy machine being commissioned. Just over £2 million plus about another half a mill to get the the imaging hardware and software. And before anyone asks, there is nothing wrong with the rectifier!

A huge piece of kit in the control room. It is very temperature sensitive so a balance between it kicking out and the patient getting cold. Air handling has been a nightmare (air cooled)

Nooooooooooooo. They are on a different planet to me. I do have a lot of dealings with them but can't understand how they can make a simple thing so complicated. It took me 2 months to get an agreement on where some desks should go in one room last year. I do wonder if some of them can dress themselves. Very, very intelligent but absolutely no common sense.

You should try getting everyone involved to agree where gas pendants, lights, 4 screen monitor banks and C arms all go in relation to each other. Bl00dy nightmare.

Don't get me started on Medical gasses! I have spent a year on a new build including, the building, 160pc's, 2 linacs, 2 CT scanners a tomo machine, a 3d imaging projector, 4 fully kitted out M&E workshops that you would sell your granny for plus stacks of other stuff. Total cost................£21,600,000. That is without the conflicts between all the different staff directorates. I only contract so I don't even technically work for the NHS. I am just a humble Project Manager, but I like to think a bl00dy good one!

Derail alert!!!

I can't say too much coz I was that creature but now I too have to work with them.

And yes they do come from another planet where commonsense and practicality are kept in a box only to be opened after exhausting all attempts at spending money unnecessarily. oops, said too much.
