Managed to get the cake all the way to Chelsea through the football crowds on the tube without smashing it to bits. Did I get offered a slice in the 4 hours I spent at the hospital? Nope!
I also made him big sausage rolls. On reflection, giving all butter flaky pastry wrapped pork products to a person who has to eat in bed is not a good idea. Crumbs everywhere.
