That's pretty much what I had to do when fitting one to my friend Yana's FZ6S. There isn't room for the complete unit, so I had to mount the compressor at the back of the engine, and the horn inside the fairing. I used black 8mm bore fuel line as the hose because it's black and easily hides itself amongst all the other pipework running around the bike.

Took fairing off and found a nice space on left side, seemed a shame not to use! Made a bracket up, can just see on photo and sprayed it satin black to match frame. Have left std horn in place and gives a nice 2 tone effect. Mounted relay under pillion seat near battery. Even bought cable protector as wires seemed a little exposed. Thanks or the advice, even tho i didn't split.

Your horn looks different to mine...

Well it says 'compact' on the box...

If it won't go under the top fairing then I'm sure it will fit on the car, or be sold on.

I split mine. Basically you need to separate the compressor from the black plastic part. Then I cut off the plastic wrap part that wrapped around the compressor. I'll try do some pics.

WOOHOO

6 days off starting on Wednesday, and a big bag of wire, relays, heat shrink and other goodies has shown up so I will be doing the headlight wiring upgrade and fitting the Nautilus, if I can find a suitable connector for the air line.

Would you mind?

I'd like to know the approx dimensions of the compressor and trumpet parts separately since space on the VFR seems very limited due to ABS gubbins. Need the standard meeper replacing, fed up of not being heard. AFAIK no one on the VFR forum has succeeded in fitting an air horn, but splitting a compact Nautilus may do it.

Can someone give me approx dimensions of the two parts?

Cbay - pics please

If you click the link I posted there is a picture of it next to a ruler, "The compressor is about 13cm long and about 5cm at the widest diameter."

Thanks Stonsie, I had missed that link. Useful but does not answer the question of the size of the constituent parts... So if anyone can furnish me with those I'd be grateful.

Cheers.
