I'm with Yorkie_chris on this, doesnt sound like R/R issue, if you want to be sure the test is simple:
(taken from the suzuki service manual): Run the engine at 5k rpm, lights on and set to full. You should get between 13.5v and 15v accross the battery, anything outside this is stuffed. I had a similar problem, turned out to be the 4pin connector on the solenoid, 1 pin inside (on the relay) had all but snapped off the mountings meaning no contact was being made, little wiggle would get it going again, replaced and all fine (after a liberal soaking of ACF50 too). I would also check any earth cables, disconnect the negative wire from the battery put your meter between the negative terminal and the negative wire on the battery, you should have nothing between these two, at any setting. Unfortunately the service manual i have (for yours and my bike) is printed and huge, but i'm sure someone around could send you a pdf of the same manual. |
