There was one considered that incorporated Big Ben, the Millenium Wheel etc. to make 2012 which even I liked, but the four pinky/red blobs won instead.

So let me get this into some form of context . Somebody from Iran has complained about a logo ............. and now he will probably be poisoned of knifed in his sleep as he has ruined the chance of 20 or so Iranian Athletes to have a bit of a Holiday , and escape their miserable lifestyle for a month . And not to mention they could miss out on the chance to swap Briefcases full of cash with some Russians behind the scenes ..... or even do a runner and not come back . Good luck with handling that one .

See, now first pic you go yo in the link above gives you...
 which is a million times better than Lisa Simpson! and I didn't need to click the rest! But then we are British and we MUST make a complete **** of the Olympics so why not start with the logo?
