I'll have 100mbps at home soon ;D

I have to deal with BT on a regular basis as part of my job. Took a few years but I found the trick is to make friends with a decent BT Local Business employee, and then solely go through them for anything to do with BT.

Works for me

Bt are ****e, absoulute ****e rip off merchants. My mate who works for a telecoms company said they don't have a clue.

they have poor customer service and i live in a brand new house middle of newport and have the same broadband speed as i had 10 years ago.

+1.

Wtf is a one-off charge that appears regularly on my bill ?? Isn't that an oxymoron?

I was so please to leave BT.

I use VoIP over my broadband so don't pay line rental etc.

Despite BT saying I can get possibly 0.5mb they have visited me and said oh! Sorry.

Still I like the idea of we will charge you for a Ferrari, but we will only let you drive a wheel chair. Their pricing does not make sense. Charge for what you get, not for what they might have in the stable.

Quiff, why do you get fibre? I would have thought the priority for fibre was the potential customers that they cannot sell a service too.

Tim , I was under the impression you required line rental to run broadband to a house (via the BT phoneline/grid)? Or is your broadband supplied via cable?

lol! their support it pretty **** poor but the 9/10 times it's just a turn it on & off again issue it does the job. Worth checking the speeds (like you have) as they are rip off merchants my dad's going to be asking for a refund now as he's getting 1meg at peak times and he pays £20+ish for "up to 20meg" where as I pay a tenner for "up to 8meg" and seem to consistently get 6mbp/s

Yeah I have to use virgins cable because I cannot get anything else.

So whilst OFCOM has battered BT and made them allow competitors to use their infrastructure they have not done the same to Virgin. Therfore we have to pay over the odds to a provider that is unwilling to offer a service customers may want

such as a ipv4 subnet whilst they existed, ipv6, multicast, decent upload speed etc. every time I ask I am told no we have a standard package and will not change, customer service stinks but I have no alternative

Good, was worried for a second that I'd lost the plot...and even worse was paying for something I didn't need!

Yeah I've heard nothing but crap about virgin.
