If the accident is your fault, any third party can claim against you, so the pillion would definately be able to claim.

Again, if the accident is your fault, you cannot claim personal injury.

If the accident is not your fault, then you would claim off the third party, and they would have to pay out for all costs as a result of it being their fault, so again no issue.

The real issue is if it is your fault what happens to you and your insurance. The most common answer is: Your insurers payout and then try to recover costs from you.

I found last year that including pillion was cheaper for me only a couple of quid but I spent that then on the weekend on a pint

I know I'm going off topic a bit but: with 3 years NCB is 225 quid a bit expensive for insurance on SV650 (that includes legal cover but no breakdown)? I'm 22 and have it garaged.

Which is clearly BS, I've fallen off 5 or 6 times without and only once with, they should give me a discount for having pillion cover!

Indeed. However, if you think about the figures, it is probably quite likely that people with pillions have more accidents. I'm not talking about everyone, but:

When people go touring, quite often it is as a couple on the same bike, with panniers for luggage etc on a big heavy bike.

They cover a lot of miles, and I guess the problem is, it looks like they probably have a lot of accidents (overall) because of the amount of mileage they do.

I'm not trying to suggest they are worse riders, but overall, the figures probably show something along those lines, otherwise I can't see why they would withdraw any cover. I specifically asked for it, and they just said they don't offer it.

I'm not that fussed, excuse to not take anyone

May have changed more recently. Although, i've just read through my policy documents and it does state they will pay out for pillion, but nowhere does it mention whether I have pillion cover or not.

My broker said they don't cover at all. I think a phone call is in order tomorrow.
