If going to the USA for training please budget for extra training on return to the UK, it's a very different environment and the weather and navigation takes some getting used to back here. I used to teach PPL and IMC in the past still actively flying light aircraft for fun and Boeing 757 to earn a crust.

FWIW our new pilots pay £23000 for a conversion on to the jet and salary starts at about £42000, you could never make a financial case for taking it up as a career, but it IS the best job in the world.
