I have done it, in moderation. In an attempt to experiment with fuel consumption, something to do with the cams I reckon, but my bike uses almost exactly the same amount of fuel at 95mph ish as it will do at 55mph.

+1 I can't think of a time where i've done less than 75mph unless theres been 2 lanes at 60

Also, why would your faith be "shattered" by the fact that a pointy owner rides in a way that you feel 'bad'? Hmmmmmmmm, could be interesting if you ever attend an Org rideout !!

Dunno about middle lanes of the motorway, we don't have many around here. BUT I have been surprised recently by the amount of riders, riding their bikes like you might drive a car. Wonder if it is folks coming out of winter hibernation and not having their biking mojo back?

On the few 3 lane parts of the a 12 the middle lane is less bumpy then lane one and has less rubbish than lane 3.
When it's commute time the inside lanes pretty clogged up anyways.

I don't like middle laners, smacks of ignorance, arrogance and laziness. Hmm, maybe I should use the middle lane more.....

Providing I am not impeding anybody else I ride on the best road surface. As mentioned there can be quite a difference in the road condition between the lanes on dual carriage ways especially.I do keep a good look-out behind me and move over if faster traffic approaches.

DOES THAT MAKE ME A TWONK?-----------

Same as, use the M4 a lot between juntion 12 and 10 and the middle lane is so much smoother than lane 1 or 3 also lane 1 is jacked up constantly at juntion 11. But like DT i do keep an eye out behind me constantly.

One comment I would like to add is that often the slow lane has ridges caused by the weight of today's heavy goods vehicles which isn't to bad in the dry but can create gully's of water when it rains.
