When my TT600 broke down in South East London, a guy on a Trumpet stopped and helped - he pushed me as we tried to bump start it, then gave me a lift to a petrol station (and back again) in case that helped.

When the AA man turned up, my bike started first time (of course!) - but he followed me all the way home to north London (about 1 hour's drive) in case I broke down again (I only had breakdown cover, not recovery).

People can be really nice!

My car broke down in snow in Stratford, London. I was walking a few miles to the train station freezng my bits off. A sweet guy in a Ferrari offered me a lift. The traffic was almost gridlocked but he pointed out that at least in the car I'd be warm. So I got to go a few miles at no more than 4mph and it's the only time I've ever got to go in a Ferrari and we didn't even get into 2nd gear. Typical.

When i had my wee off, a few weeks ago. As I was standing talking to the husband of the bloody cage driver that had me off, 3s biker came over the crest of the hill and slowled right down, the 1st one flipped up his visor and shouted " You OK mate?". I gave him the nod and thumbs up and off he went.
The bloke said " Did you know him?"
When i informed him that i didn't, he was absolutely amazed that a fellow biker would actually be bothered to slow down and see if I was OK.

The guy on the BMW r1200GS - 10 minutes before didn't even look at me!!!!!

Didn't need help but really appreciated the offer.

Family analogy - have to agree there. (BMW RG rider's are the black sheep!)

It's nice when that happens. The manky builders van that stopped beside me and helped me in the same way was a life saver - I was half a mile up a looooong hill to the nearest petrol station (I was about half way) and beetroot red. Van driver was a biker and refused any cash - top bloke.

I've also slowed to see if bikers in layby's are OK, usually get a "thank you I'm fine" wave but one time it turned out to be my daughters piano teacher who'd dropped her Gladioli. Stayed chatting with her until her other half turned up with a trailer (broken shift lever).

Aren't we a nice bunch! We should not be so proud to refuse help. The Brit bike rider I stopped for once was well into a strip down in a layby and was almost rude in saying no to an offer of help... I'd be saying "yes please" without hesitation, even if they were only good for passing me things or keeping me sane with chat.

I always stopped for fellow bikers who are either stuck and in need of a hand or (mainly my luck) taking a break.

Although I seem to come across more bikers at the road side when I'm in my car, or in the ambulance than on my bike, but it's the look of horror I get when the biker see's a car driver stopping as bikes pass

When I binned my er6 in kings cross, and hurt my arm whilst bleeding from my love handles, the only person that came to help me pick my bike up from the middle of the road and wheel it across after 5minutes of struggling alone as others drove by was a French guy on holiday who was also a biker.

A cross cultural brotherhood by the looks of things.

When i was in Lincolnshire last year and heading to the beach on a sunny saturday i was approaching a roundabout with roughly 10 cars in front of me. As i pulled up i was just in time to see a female struggling to pick up a cruiser type bike. Just as i was getting out the car she managed to get the bike up and off she went.
A couple of miles down down the road she had pulled into a lay by so i stopped to check if she was ok. We chatted for a few minutes dicussing how not one of the car drivers behind had stopped to help and that a few had just driven around her. I think she was more embarrassed about losing her footing and the bike dropping.

Luckily she and the bike were ok and her riding partner had realised she wasn't behind him and turned around to see where she was.

I will always stop to check if a biker is ok if i see them at the side of the road. i may not be mechanically minded and be able to offer any assistance that way, but ii i am in my car i always have a selection of tools in the boot of the car that may be of use and an empty petrol can.
