jesus guys, talk about taking things out of contects, some people love the oppertunity to to make other people look like gobby idiots, the last thing on my mind is to spread my self all over the manx countryside, ( what a ****** for sugesting i do) on the subject of fitness , im 48 i cycle 60 miles a week, and run 15 miles a week, practice krav maga,(hebrew matial art), i take fitness extremly seriously, i feel i owe it to my felow racers to maintain a good level of fitness , this allows you to make faster decisions that could effect a fellow rider or myself, all i was saying was, im ****ed at the reduction of 1 lap, even if was a 10 lap race, if i felt unable to continue after 2 laps i would retire, im sure other riders are a little put out by this reduction to. however if its in the interest of saftey , then we must support it, i used the wrong words when comparing roads to short short curcuits, i meant to say, a short curcuit race s full on from lights to flag, i think supervox was using the term full on in the danger contex, to wich i was a little sucked into, having visited the island for the manx for 14 years, and raced on and off since the mid 80s, and every season since 2005, im fully aware of the differing dangers that the tt course throws up, and the change of riding style that must be employed, i shal be keeping away from the kerbs ,and following the white lines and treating it as a fast sunday run to matlock, having lost a family member to our beloved way of life, i fully respect the dangers of racing both on the island and mainland, let me assure you there is nothing like identifying a family member in louth hospital to make you respect motorcycle racing, so to the posters who were trying to make me feel a ****, how about some good tips for a safe lap, rob

respect to you brother, nothing wrong with ****ting yourelf about the manx, but the advice i get from other riders is just enjoy the event, and take your time learning the cource, i have the dvd of the tony pond 100mph lap in the rover vitesse, i think its a reasonable training tool, iv also got the 2006 guy martin lap , but its so fast its a little hard to follow in places, specialy from ginger to ramsey, thats the bit thats worying me, can i sugest something,,, log onto the classic racing clubs fourum crmc you will find a few older riders that have done the manx for years, they are more than willing to give advice , the classic bikes are arround the same speed as our sv,s,,,,,rob

If you can drill a hole in a bolt to lockwire it - then do it. I am not joking when i say that anything that isnt lockwired will come loose. Also after each practice deffinately check each bolt again before going out in the following practice. It is a long way round and over lots of road which vibrates the crap out of the bikes.
Three laps is a long way for your first race around the course. Not only is it physically tiring but because you are concentrating for nearly an hour and a half it drains you and when you get that tired thats when problems happen .... missing your brake point..... missing the apex... etc etc You will find when you start practice it is unbelievable how quickly the corners come up. As so many have said - dont put pressure on yourself just go out and learn the circuit. Y |
