Never buy from a car supermarket, only go there to have a look at a variety of makes and models and then go to a proper decent independent dealer to get what you want (if you don't want to go private).

Get your money back ASAP.

Took the car in yesterday and theyv'e rung me up today saying al is well.. im going to give it another chance but if it keeps going wrong itll be gone. Oened a case up with trading standards so if it keeps going wrong theyll know about it etc so just have to see what happens. I suppose its a lottery buying anything second hand and they'll be good and bad everywhere but its just annoying that they hav'nt looked / checked / serviced the car properly in the first place. Dont think id use them again but then again if i never had any problems then id probably recommend them to anyone, as it is ive had a bad experience with them i suppose so just hope all is well now.

What have you done? Have you given them the list of faults found by that indie garage and are they going to give you a list of everything they've replaced?

Main delaers are just as bad sometimes. My "FSH" Mondeo wasn't when the manual/books eventually turned up from head office two weeks after I'd bought the thing but it's easier said than done getting your money back. Let them fix it then go somewhere else for servicing.

If a vehicle is more than three years old consider an independant inspection from AA/RAC perhaps before purchase. If the dealer gets funny about this walk away.

The whole second hand car thing and servicing there in, is a lottery.

For example. A nightbour many years ago ahd an Escort whose engine siezed leaving the forecourt after a full service. Apprently, they hadnt put the sump plug back in nor any oil. Also, for a few years i seemed to be going to car autions with friends to buy cars, for them. Nothing other than a decent service was usually needed and all was well. I bought a car from an aution done all the usual checks etc, and it turned out to be a right pup. Cost me a small fortune.

My current car, i just drove down the road, checked out the service history (all one dealer) and paid money for car. Its not let me down since, although it does have a gearbox oil leak which is a £400+ replair, so i'll keep topping it up with oil
