No probs mate.
Just give me a PM it'll be sometime in the evening before I can get across. Also ask for one of the account to be deactivated as the Mods and Admin may block one or both the accounts

Just like to say thankyou to the kind Mod/Admin who sorted out my account.
Sorry didn't get round to doing anything with the bike today. I am heading down to Silverlink tomorrow so I'll get a quick video or something of it idling and post it up here, that way you can listen to it as many times as you want. If it does turn out to be a dodgey CCT how easy are they to replace? |

From the sounds of it, replacing the CCTs shouldn't be too hard a job. That's if they need replacing. Found some manual CCTs on eBay for what seems like a good price. Would you recommend manaul CCTs over the automatics?
Link - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Suzuki-sv6...item19c7b607f6 Just in case you want to have a look. While searching the net for info on CCTs I came across someone saying that pushing the bike backwards, whilst in gear, can sometimes fix the problem. However the fix may not last long. It could start rattling again within days. I'm going to read through my Haynes manual tomorrow but would grately appreciate it if someone wouldn't mind helping me out if they do need replacing. Replacing CCT isn't a very difficult job a time served Suzi mechanic told me how to check it in 30 secs. Knowledge is needed to do it,
The Auto verus manual debate has been had soo many times. Automatic removes another inspection process from the maintenance. CCT's are good for 50k and a lot further. If it is was the pre SV design it would be a replacement (VX800's are very poor). Sid Squid has motor running as out of factory with 106k on it.

Ah right. So basically I need to check my CCT. That's where I'm lost, I could try to follow a manual, but having never done it before I wouldn't really know what to look for.
I think I will just slacken my chain a little as the gear changes are really clunky now, whereas they were pretty smooth when I had it apparently "way too loose". Also need to replace my Sprocket carrier bearing as it is on its way out. Just when I wanted some new gear, I've had to spend my money on other bits and pieces. |

If you inform your insurer that you may breach your mileage allowance, most are ok about going a couple of hundred miles over.
Like I said give the bike a run to heat the oil up and it should quieten down. this should help you http://www.sv650.org/camten/cam%20ch...tenstioner.htm

Right I have some videos on my phone now. One where the bike was cold, been sitting in garage a few days, the second is after a 30 minute ride so pretty warmed up. I used to get a faint(ish) rattle sort of like a babies toy rattle but this noise is a pretty loud distinct tapping. So at the very least I want to take the CCTs out, check them over and give them a clean.
As for my insurance, I already raised my annual mileage from 3000 to 6000 which cost £70. I told them about possibly going over 6000 a while back and they said it would increase my premium. So basically, I won't be going back with them again. I'll have to go get some long Allen keys with the ball end and the special Suzuki tool if I'm to attempt removing my CCTs. Even with a guide I still don't feel confident as last time I did something that wasn't your general maintenance I nearlly messed up which would have cost me few quid. If I mess up these CCTs it will cost a bit more than a few quid. I will get the videos up in a bit, hopefully the sound comes through as it was recorded on my phone. |

Right I have the videos uploaded. One when the bike was cold, hence the low idle and one when it was warm after a 30 minute ride home. The noise seems louder when the bike is warm but I just noticed I recorded from the other side of the bike in the "warm" video which is why it sounds quieter. Isn't the CCT for the front on the right hand side?

Does that sound like a CCT problem?
