I bought my SK6 a few weeks ago. Completely standard (and mint). I would say chat to the owner for a while, if you're friendly and honest he should be the same, if you play cold haggler he may well become sly salesman. You can also tell if he knows what he's talking about, and has done the little service jobs that need doing or not.
Check reason for sale, look at MOTs (check advisories)... and everything said above and you should be safe. |

some i advice wether its been covered yet.
1.) i noticed both sv650 i have have owned rust on the front lower york (bit that holds the forks) this will help determine wether its been out in wet or kept in garage and looked after. 2.) none matching paint. bought my k3 ages ago and didnt notice little dabs of blue touch up paint had been applied suggesting a drop. 3.) EXHAUST COUPLER. make sure the exhaust pipe has not been cut, as there should be no joins frm the header to the end can. (i know this well as i sold my old sv650 with a coupler on it). there is nothing wrong with it, just suggests an end can has been put on it before. 4.) orginal pegs, and parts etc. Any mods such as, mirrors, tail tidies, FOOT PEGS, gear/clutch levers which are not standard suggest bike could have been dropped and replaced with cheaper/ cooler looking parts. (believe me i try tell myself sometimes my bike looks ok. 5.) lastly general things i dont like on a bike when buying it, scratched head lights, rust on forks, paint peeling off engine/forks. tanks being dented /scratched as sv650 tanks are metal. 6.) do all the other standard things when buying bike, chain, oil leaks, warped discs etc etc. oh and make sure you get one in blue, alot of people have blue ones for some weird reason, parts bit easier to get hold of. |

Thanks for all the replies. I will print this off before I go and see it tomorrow. Just withdrawn all the cash ready to try and haggle, got the reg plate off the seller and want to do an HPI check.
Can anyone recommend a good HPI check for motorcycles? I know about the obvious ones for cars like mycarcheck.com but wondered if it is worth using a specialist one like motorcyclecheck.com? Not sure if the motorcycle specific one will give me any more information? It's about 4 times the price of the car one. Thanks again all. Fingers crossed for tomorrow. |

So, went to see the bike today. The lady owner showed me round it and I could not see a single thing wrong with it which she ha not already highlighted to me such as the small scrapes on the exhaust. Therefore I had no way of really haggling since the price was already stupidly low. She did throw in the Oxford lock and outdoor cover and a Pillion saddle bag. Therefore I parted with my money and had an amazing drive home from Worthing to Reading taking the back roads.
Love the bike! I look forward to learning more about it on this forum and thank for all the help! ![]() |

Nice.
Don't see too many in Red. What was reason given for the front indicator change when rest of the bike looks standard?

She (the seller) didn't even know the indicators were non standard. So I assume it was a previous owner. I was to make them LED all round anyway for better visibility to other road users. Also want to get a rear end tidy (any recommendations let me know) an a new stubby exhaust in carbon to match the dark metal frame. Thinking two brothers carbon exhaust at the moment. Not cheap though!

That looks great, Syy.
A carbon exhaust would really set it off. Let me know which one you go for, I'm thinking the same for next summer. |

Delkevic stubby is 'not for road use' but this might be up your street: http://www.delkevic.co.uk/?section=shop&product_category=exhaust_s7rhj&sub_c ategory=silencers_hl3s5&product=350mm_carbon_fibre _oval_silencers&variant=oval_350mm_carbon_fibre_s. r.e.silencer_sv650_/_sv400_03-10&start=0&search_term=&order_by= All i can otherwise suggest is you do some forum searches on 'Tail tidy' or start new thread 'Recommend me a tail tidy / carbon stubby endcan'.
