I came back yesterday from a week of biking fun in Scotland. Not even sideways rain could spoil it.

Desperate for a ride today so headed out to Petworth, Arundel, Bury across the South Downs and home on the local twisties for about an hour and half.
Weather perfect, traffic was light, bike brilliant and me - I rode like a right div! I was bloody rubbish. |

![]() I headed towards Clitheroe via Longridge this morning, theres some cracking left right flicks along the way. Then headed to Trough of Bowland taking this route for the 1st time, bit more tight and technical than Waddington to Newton like I normally do. Lots of fun. The road narrows at B near the stream and theres a good 50ft drop just to your left hand side! Left Glasson Dock and started to head back towards Preston. I can't stand the slog back down the A6 from there so I turned off early and went exploring. Ended up on narrow, leafy roads that lead to Beacon Fell. Parked up for a bit to enjoy the scenery. Then made my way back through a maze of some pretty decent back roads. Had the sat nav mounted to the bars but didnt switch it on, was just enjoying getting lost in the hazy sunshine ![]()

Went to work on the Versys, which is about 8 miles. Came home on my company bike - which is an FJR1300 we took in px against a Z1000SX - that I'll mainly be using from now on for the 60 mile round trip to work and back*. The 8 miles home somehow turned into a 40 mile trip... no idea how that happened
![]() Today I went to see my mum in hospital about 15 miles away after popping into work to pick some stuff up for tomorrow. *New job within the company as general manager of the Cambridge branch, which is 30 miles from home. |

Yesterday..
Peg took Suzy out for a 30 mile run in the morning, then I went out in the afternoon for about the same. He thought she was frickin awesome....in a tiny bike kinda way. I was terribly uncomfortable, she doesn't fit me anymore, but I enjoyed bimbling in my own space in the sun.

We too went to hospital today, to see our friend who had the crash a couple of weeks ago. He has been moved again and is now in a regular ward, has hardly any tubes coming out of him and he is bored out of his head, so we took him a DVD player and a pile of DVD's to watch. No Ghostrider though, don't him getting any more daft ideas! ![]() Today's big adventure though was taking the wife pillion on the bike, a scary prospect because she trained me. It was such a nice feeling having her arms around me as we blasted along on my hire bike. On the way back we stopped for a cuppa and he gave me some feedback on my riding which was really useful. Handy having a wifey who is a senior instructor, saves shed loads on training! The main reason for me taking the wife on my bike though was due to the seals on her front brake callipers starting to weep and drip brake fluid earlier this week. When we had a look at them today, she looked a bit sad and said it needs new seals and pads. ![]() |

![]() Funny how you can live somewhere for years and be totally unaware of a road like that! |

Run out with the Shropshire Rat's, tagged on to them at Shrewsbury by pass, Westbury to Churchstoke, (Harry Tuffins for brekkie), Bishops Castle, Clun, Knighton to Presteigne, tour of the Judges Lodgings, (well worth the admission fee). Lunch in a nice pub, then to Mortimers Cross to Leintwardine, down through the very scenic Mortimer Forest to Ludlow and down the A49 home. Couldn't have been better.
