btw if you do want to go down this route let me know as there are a lot of Idiosyncrasies (sp) with them that will help you spot a duffer / stop you worrying about noises.

Not got my eye on one in particular. Just been looking at getting rid of the Sv for a while now to either free up some monies or get another bike and take the next step. I don't want something stupidly fast, but a bit faster than the Sv and still useable on the road. Handling is the most important factor and what I've read about these... They excel in it. They're not expensive either

Join the litre triple club and get a 955i Speed Triple instead. Once you've experienced that engine, you'll never go back.

Good bike undoubtedly. Decent build but a pain to work on. Fast but nothing to write home about. Makes a lot of noise but doesn't have much character in the power delivery. Handles reasonably.

Personally I'd rather have a GSXR750 with it's clothes off if I wanted naked sporty four. It's some of the annoying decisions in how some bits go together that really turn me off these bikes, I can't remember too many specifics as I've only done andybrads and one other but there were enough bits with it to make me think "gits!" at the time!

Fast but nothin to write home about suits me probably.
As much as I'm confident to rag the Sv I don't want to jump onto a litre bike or something similar and scare the pants off myself. I'm trying to be sensible and upgrade without killing myself or my bank balance as yc says, rather ride a slow bike fast than a fast bike slow!

Smudge had one, thought very very highly of it......until an ******* in a stolen car rammed a taxi into the front of it. Had his and Rictus's on the drive at the same time once.....like a pair of identical twins!

He has since gone on to buy a tasty 995i..as he puts it, the good looking one, not the ugly one with the funny ar$e end!

You won't scare the pants off yourself with a 955i anyway, it's so tractable you can ride it between 3000 and 8000 revs all day long and it's just like riding the SV between say 6000 and the red line. It's a pussy cat, which will turn into a rabid monster, but only if you ask it to.

(though I am talking Daytona 955i here, never ridden the Speed Triple, though I think they are the same, maybe a different engine map)
