The bike will mainly be used on track so throttle response and smoothness is very important. |

Pretty good but only having two cylinders is the most jerky part!

Actually not very different at all. With the exception of styling and the FI system everything is about as similar in use as it could be. The frame is very different in looks, but very similar dimensionally speaking, the front brake is identical, the front suspension differs only in the detail of fixing the front wheel, the seating position is as near identical as makes no difference. In short many bits are different but add up to much the same thing, the similarities between the two models hugely outweigh the differences.
The Curvy existed for about four years, the Pointy has been with us for nine years and counting, (in 'S' form, the Gladius having replaced the naked a couple of years ago). The SV sold well from the outset, but clearly altogether there were more Pointies than Curvies and obviously natural wastage claims older bikes earlier so the majority of SVs are Pointies now. They're both excellent bikes, and in reality they're very similar to own and ride, buy the best one you can find for the money you want to spend, regardless of which exact bike it is.

![]() I didn't think there was a massive difference between the two, but I wasn't sure if there were any small geometry changes that had a big difference on the way they ride? Money isn't much of an issue, I can go upto 3k so looking on biketrader it seems like that'll get me a decent/low mileage pointy. As I've already said I was leaning towards that model anyway, I won't be buying until Feb/Mar next year so I've plenty of time to get some test rides in ![]() |
