I fully meant to send mine off when I changed it but forgot. Found it the other day and shredded it. That said that was July and since then I passed my full license so I've had another one in the meantime.

There has been tons of this going on, people having to retake tests even with 'evidence' being produced.

Don't trust them with anything, they are clusterf*cks IMO.

I sent mine away 5 yrs ago and they sent me the new and the old one, I keep the old one in my wallet cos even though its out of date all the details on it are basically correct, well they where til last week when I had to renew the photo on it.

When you do the renewal online it tells you to. It also says so on the paper version if you do it by post or at the PO.

I applied for a photo licence because I had lost my original paper one (and figured some form of photo ID might be useful at times). Found it five years later when we moved house - it had fallen down the back of a cupboard!

One of my mates didn't send back both parts of his license after a change of address. Got his license suspended by the DVLA, but didn't know anything about it because they sent the mail to his old address.

Found out when Plod stopped him and asked to see his license. Lots of faffing about while DVLA sorted out new license, but managed to avoid ending up in court.

So, remember to tick the 'Destroyed' box, and shred it after the new one arrives.

The new one has already arrived! Looks OK (all the categories are still there) so can send in the old one now.
