Go and see Spannerman for one of his full service specials? My curvy ran like clockwork after he'd worked his magic on it.

I found it pretty easy. Just make sure you loosen the top nut on the fork whilst they are on the bike. Makes it so much easier than when they are off the bike.

A full service certainly, but blueprinting an engine is an enormous amount of work for minimal gain. It's only ever worthwhile if you are trying to extract the last 0.1bhp in a restricted race series.

If it's the original, at 30k miles the rear damper on an SV will be knackered. The linkages on the rear may be worn if they've not been looked after. The fork oil will be beyond nasty if it's never been changed. Fixing these will make a big difference, as will a set of fresh tyres if they are particularly flat.

Control cables will probably be worn, especially the clutch. A new cable and cleaning/greasing the clutch mechanism will give you back a nice light clutch.

When was the last time the brakes had a thorough overhaul? If the piston or sliders are sticky then the brakes feel terrible. New fluid and maybe new brake lines would be an idea if not already done.

Unfortunately not. 568 ml per fork if I remember correctly.

I'm assuming someone's mentioned overhauling the brakes if not been done very recently

There's a guide in the FAQs of either this site or svrider which explains both the proper method and the shortcut with a syringe.

And yes it's easy, just need a jack, spanners/sockets etc.
