Nah mate but after doing yet more searches a couple of old posts have said that cbr600 f3 fork internals fit as do zzr600e forks....both 41mm. Just wondered if you or anyone else had done this mod and if it was straightforward or complicated. Would love to do the GSXR swap but not sure if i like the bike enough for it to be a keeper yet! Love the style and sound but the handling with a busted fork seal and soggy forks is damn near to being the worst handling bike i have ever owned. Thanks for you're help and sorry for being a pain!!

I've never done it with ZZR ones. Most of the cartridges I've done are ones with tops left standard so they're minitwin legal.
I had some ZZR ones, picked them up, went "yuck, kayaba" and didn't bother... The CBR swap is dead easy. You ideally need some complete forks as donor.

what do people have against KYBs? i'm slowly doing a cartridge fork mod.
will be using zzr stanchions and at lesat the cartridge bodies. also have some f3 cartridges, so i could use them with the zzr damping rods, but what is it that makes them so much better? |

I prefer pistons with more port area, and there was also something about bleed design, maybe needle taper. Not sure it's been a while...

hmm..
i've read about the needles somewhere. something about them being stepped rather than a smooth taper. as for the valves, the showa hmas as found on the f3 has 4*1,8 mm ports on the shim stack side and 4*2,8 mm on the check valve side. the kyb from zzr-e is 3*2,8 on shim stack side - so that's more port area, or am i misunderstanding the term? on the check valve side the kybs have rectangularish high-flow ports. |
