Yep, personally I would split the caliper. It gives you much better access the the piston seal and dust seal grooves. It's absolutely essential that these are thoroughly cleaned out as the dust seal groove in particular tends to accumulate a build up of oxidisation. This pushes the dust seal out of its seat and causes it to grab the piston, thus preventing proper movement of the piston through the seal.

Agreed.

I never (surprisingly) had corrosion in the rears seals in the last 3 or 4 I've rebuilt. I'd split the caliper as you get a better overall result. You can push the opposed pistion out with a footpump and tap the banjo side out with a M5 or 6 bolt.
