Possibly more for Android as it is opensource software, everything my sister has on her Iphone I can get on my Galaxy S2, added to which the Samsung is just better.

+2 iphone gets my vote.

None of my Samsungs (pre smartphone era) ever lasted as long as the contact I'd taken out.

Quiff me old fruit,
Get yourself along to a carphone warehouse or similar and have a play. I have the Galaxy S II, and it's not been complicated to use at all. The Google Play store works, I imagine much like the Apple app store.

Android phones (such as the SGS II & III) now have several apps to play nicely with iTunes so you should find the transition pretty smooth.

Whatever you buy, it's going to be cheaper & obsolete tomorrow, so pick a price & feature set you want to go with and make sure it works on that basis. There is always something better coming out next quarter.
