I got points and pounds for 35 in a 30, first in over 30 years.

No consideration for a course. Safety my ****.

I got caught doing 52 in a 40 (sheffield - van parked up after a bypass) on a cbr125 with L's a year ago, i got the option for the course. Is it county specific when/for what they offer the course? A friend didn't get offered the course when he was caught speeding, but he requested to do it instead of the points and his requested got accepted.

As said its up to "The Man"
Your more likely get a course if mr plod has seen what your doing and conditions.
Cameras can't do that.

whilst we have cameras all over the place here (one not 500 yds from my house), a lot are inactive, of course you don't know which unless you find out the hard way, but as you say you know the road well, did you not expect it? the road markings as well as the normally bright colour and fixed location should have made it obvious , OK van's and cops with laser guns not withstanding, you really should be concentrating a bit better in my view, if you missed this (requiring a "lockup" braking maneuver) then someone doing something unexpected is a going to be far harder to spot.

Just my 2p worth.

Cheers Mark.

sorry but that's even worse "in my own world" isn't the frame of mind to be riding a bike in, you've proved you're less attentive, that's an unnecessary danger, and it's dangerous enough at the best of times, riding shouldn't be the second thing on your mind whilst you're doing it, I've got kitted up before now, gone out to the bike, sat on it and found I couldn't focus on riding just then, and got back off for a while until I could before riding, it's just not worth the possible ramifications.

Cheers Mark.
