He served on jets in Korea. Flew the X-15 rocket plane. Almost died on Gemini 8 and was mission commander on Apollo 11.

A very modest and reserved superhero who was a very patriotic to his country.

True legend, in a world where that word is commonly used all 3 in my mind deserve this title. You can bet ya bottom dollar Michael Collins would have landed and seen how much they could explore before the inevitable, had it gone wrong.

At least he died peacefully as an old man and this speech never had to be made

I'd be interested to know how you think Colins would have "landed".

I find the courage of these men to be incredible. The had the biggest audience the word had ever seen and things could have gone badly wrong. I still wonder what would have happened if things had gone wrong - they'd landed but used too much fuel so that they could not get home again. Would they have explored until their supplies ran out? Taken cyanide?
I'm somewhat swayed by the evidence:

do I believe we landed on the moon - yes
do I believe the video footage is real - not so sure (possibly a faulty feed/camera etc on the day)

Irrelevant though as either way he was a great advertisement of what humanity can achieve

RIP Neil

what is the evidence that leads you to believe that there was a faulty feed?
