Exactly Sir Trev. Where does everyone think none EU regulatory quality fruit and veg goes? Sure a lot of it goes to the compost bin, but rather a lot goes to feed animals.

When I was a nipper I grew up in a hospital, all the food waste, vegetable pealings went to feed the pigs, just all boiled up and made into swill.
The only reason that it is not done like this now is to stop cross contamination in the food chain which I don't understand as it has already been cooked for human consumption.
Pigs eat just about anything,
I don't like pig meat in any form that has been fed on fish meal as I can taste it in the end product.

Bet you love the taste of pig fed on the chocolate from Willy wonkas waste bins
They have waste reduction measures in place but theres still too much to go round.

you get the same thing from almost any animal, you really are what you eat, or at least they are.

Folks, the answer is simple.

Eat more ponies!

When oh when will they start producing animal free meat products? I don't mean Quorn (which is lovely) but meat grown in a petridish. I know that they have been working on it, it cuts down the costs and environmental damage that livestock farming causes. However, I think that the last time I saw a sample, it looked horribly unappetising, a sort of meaty bogey if you like!

Soylent green, that's why they are fattening up the sheep who eat too much processed food

Because when they tried it tasted horrible... apparently.

Also some people are vegitarian for dietary or environmental reasons and it wouldnt help them and those that are vegitarian for animal cruelty issues would probably also have an issue with it, it opens up a debate similar to abortion, at what stage does the mass of meat become alive?
