I use two locks when out and about, plus I have an alarm.

At home, the bike is locked to a ground anchor, alarmed and both disk locks and another chain are used. This may sound over the top, but two bikes have gone missing from our street in the last few months and our garage has been broken into twice in the last six months. When reported to the Police, they kindly informed me that there was nothing that they could do, despite the door being pushed from its fixings in the wall and had marks of being forced with a crow bar!

A mate of mine had this, the local police were actually more interested in his so-called "crime" of wiring the door up to the mains after it had happened twice. They caught the (still twitching a bit ) would be thief and gave him a very stern slap on the wrist. Laughable, though he did get both his legs broken a few months later in a completely unconnected incident.

So my recommendation, scratch or smash every panel, dent the tank, and under no circumstances wash any dirt, muck, or grime off of it.
That's exactly my approach !

Depends if you have steering lock, my SV1000S doesn't since I changed the front forks...

Sid Squid has been known to refer to a couple of the Soho SVs as "Pre-disastered"

Mine might have been one of them.
